Mr Blackmore, Head of P.E. entered us into the Premier League Primary Stars Equipment Competition and we’re delighted to report that Magdalen Court School was announced as one of the very lucky winners! So, a big thank you to Mr B because the children were completely thrilled with the kit worth over £1000 which arrived this week. The equipment includes Premier League footballs, goals, several sets of bibs, cones, hula hoops and more.
‘The balls are Premier League ones,’ said one pupil, ‘and it’s going to be brilliant playing and wearing the new bibs.’
The scheme which promotes inclusive P.E. also sent equipment such as giant dice and ideas for cross curricular projects which allow opportunities to teach maths and literacy within sporting activities.
The Department of Adventure had a coastal theme this week and children explored the rockpools at Wembury (lots of crabs, shrimps and fish were captured, inspected and released) or visited the National Aquarium. They learned about local shorelife.
KS3 had an exciting encounter watching young cadets complete an assault course on Woodbury Common.
The smells of baking have been gloriously wafting through the corridors this week. In cookery the children, who are exploring healthy options using the Riverford Companion Cook Book made courgette cup cakes and everyone was pleasantly surprised but how great they tasted!
The pupils visited local independent shops to source the ingredients.
Girls in KS2 have set up a football team called The Dark Foxes. They are selling homemade lemonade in school today to raise money to buy themselves some team kit. Well done girls!
