We are always promoting the children to think actively for themselves and we find that children thrive when given responsibility.
Our leadership opportunities give those children with special interests in the environment, helping others and organising events a chance to make a difference in our school community. It's very empowering for them and develops initiative.
The school council are democratically voted in by each class. They meet regularly to discuss what improvements could be made to the school from the children's point of view. They choose a charity to support each term and organise small fundraising events.
Each week staff and pupils write the names of children who have been especially kind and thoughtful on slips of paper and post them into a big gold bucket. At the end of the week the child with the most nominations gets to take a large trophy home for the weekend to show their parents or carers. They also get to keep a smaller version. The kindness cup is awarded at the Friday assembly and weekly certificates of achievement are also given out for each class and subject.
The Green team is made up of those children who have a particular love of nature and the environment.
They promote recycling within the school, look at ways to improve the school community's impact on the environment and encourage us all to be more environmentally friendly, setting whole school goals.l
