SEND/Learning Support

Magdalen Court School has an experienced SEND team who approach their work with great care and creative solutions. They work closely with the 0-25 Team and offer a positive and nurturing environment which enables pupils to flourish, when in other larger establishments they may have been struggling.

We support children with a wide range of mild learning difficulties and for those children with a high level of anxiety/social emotional needs we have introduced a sanctuary room. This is a quiet area designed to help them regulate and re-enter learning as quickly as possible. This is monitored and data analysed every two weeks by our Inclusion and Welfare Support Manager. If this data suggests children are struggling to re-engage with work SEND staff will meet to plan/adapt.

We have recently introduced Precision Teaching to help accelerate the learning of those children who are below age related expectation. This is analysed every four weeks to review its effectiveness. We also run a Fun Fit intervention, Managing Emotions, Lego Therapy, Step Up and Attachment Based Mentoring.
